Timeline

2010 — 2024

Student, teacher, writer

Studied Political Science at the University of Dhaka from the 2010–2011 session, later taught Business Studies at the University of Scholars in Dhaka while writing and organising locally in Rampura.

JULY 2024

The July Uprising

Student-led protests against the job quota system grew into a nationwide uprising. Hadi emerged as one of its prominent young organisers during a crackdown that left nearly 1,400 people dead.

AFTER JULY 2024

Co-founding Inqilab Moncho

Hadi co-founded and became spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho, a youth platform campaigning for accountability for the July martyrs and a justice-based, sovereign state.

2025

A leading, outspoken voice

Hadi became a fixture of Bangladesh's youth-led political discourse — organising sit-ins, demanding investigations into past killings, and frequently using public platforms to press the interim government on reform.

12 DEC 2025

Shot in Dhaka

Hadi was shot after leaving a mosque in Dhaka. He had reportedly received prior death threats. He was treated locally before being airlifted to Singapore General Hospital.

18 DEC 2025

Died from his injuries

Hadi succumbed to his injuries in Singapore, six days after the shooting. His death triggered immediate, nationwide grief and unrest across Bangladesh.

20 DEC 2025

A nation in mourning

A state funeral was held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament, drawing immense crowds. He was buried at the Dhaka University Central Mosque grounds, beside the mausoleum of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The interim government declared a day of national mourning.

ONGOING

The pursuit of justice

Investigations continue. Accounts of who is responsible remain contested, and arrests have been reported — this page will not speculate beyond what is independently confirmed. What is certain: the demand for a transparent, credible investigation has not faded.
